A Family
Adventure
In November 2004, Mark Kotting, a
London taxi driver, his wife, Tracy, and their two girls, Etta
and Billie, went on a long trip. They wanted to travel from Asia
to Australia. First, they took a plane from London to Bangkok,
in Thailand. Bangkok was very hot and busy, with lots of people.
They went to the Wat Pho temple and saw the big golden Buddha.
They took a train to Ko Phangan, a beautiful island, and swam in
the sea. Billie loves animals, especially dogs, and she met a
dog on the beach.
Also, in Thailand, they walked in
the jungle, rode a motorbike and saw monkeys. Etta and Billie
rode on an elephant! In December the family took a train from
Thailand to Cambodia, and saw a Water Festival with candles, on
the Siem Reap River. In January, they took a bus to Laos,
climbed up mountains, swam under a waterfall and saw lots of
coconut palms.
T
hey went on a plane to Australia in
February, and saw fireworks. They didn't travel by bus in
Australia - they bought a camper and drove many miles to
Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. They saw dolphins, parrots, and
kangaroos. The family loved their trip - the best things they
did were learn to speak different languages and eat lots of ice
cream!
