Grammar: Subject and Object Pronouns
Pronouns are words that take the place of noun in
the sentence.
Example: Bob drives his car too
much.
He drives his car too much.
The difference between subject and object pronouns
is subject pronouns are the subject of the
sentence.
Example: I will see a movie
tonight. (subject)
There are also singular
subject pronouns (I, you, he, she, it) and plural subject
pronouns (we, you, they).
Put a circle around the
subject pronouns in these sentences.
1. I think we
should go swimming.
2. You know I
like popcorn more than candy.
3. They said
we cannot be here past eight o' clock.
Replace the subjects
with subject pronouns.
1. Bill
lost his wallet at the store.
______
2. The cat
found some milk.
______
3. Everyone
saw the man fly into the safety net. ______
Object pronouns are the object of
the verb, preposition or phrase.
Example: Ken told me some things I
did not agree with. (object)
There are also singular object pronouns (me, you, him,
her, it) and plural object pronouns (us, you, them).
Finish these sentences with an object pronoun.
1. I do not like thunderstorms. I do not like
______ one bit.
2. This afternoon I was on
the phone and I saw ______ jogging.
3. I searched the woods for
______ many days.
Replace the underlined noun with an object pronoun.
1. She like chips and
